Nikola Tesla Statue

a gift of Yugoslavia to the U.S. in 1976. The monument was the work of Croatian sculptor Frano Kršinić.  You can read about Tesla here

civil war monument

The limestone or white sandstone Town of Niagara Civil War Monument has a 30' by 2.5' by 2.5' obelisk on top of a 2.5' square base. The monument was dedicated in 1876. The sculptor of the monument is unknown. The original list of names has been reproduced on four metal plaques.

The top of the monument has the figure of a Union soldier in full uniform, including a cape. He is standing at parade rest and holding a musket, with fixed bayonet, by the barrel with his left hand on top of his right hand. His left foot is slightly forward and overhangs the plinth. The bottom of the shaft has the date 1876. Below is the inscription: DIED FOR THEIR COUNTRY

Native American Statue

at Niagara Falls State Park by LeeAnn McLaneGoetz.   Chief Clinton Rickard of the Tuscarora Indians is honored in Niagara Falls State Park, New York. Clinton Rickard (1882-1971) was a Tuscarora chief known for founding the Indian Defense League, and for promoting Native American sovereignty. He worked for free passage of Native Americans across the US-Canada border, and to prevent the flooding of the Tuscarora Reservation. Info courtesy of FineArtAmerica
